Cousin Sam turns 4!!

We had so much fun celebrating Sam's birthday last weekend!! He really turned 4 on December 22nd, but to make sure it wasn't lost in the Christmas hustle and bustle, they decided to celebrate it in January. He was quite excited and definitely loved his cupcakes!

and we're SITTING!

Caroline started sitting up! She really did this about a week and a half ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting the pictures. She is growing so quickly and now looks like a little girl sitting there and playing. She definitely prefers this new point of view over laying down any day!

Grandpa Doug to the Rescue!

Wouldn't you know that this year has had the coldest temperatures in Texas for the past 14 years? We had quite a few days under freezing and as a result, our kitchen sink pipes froze. We planned on heading to Austin last weekend to spend Christmas with Grandpa Doug, Grandma K, and Aunt Joanna, but instead decided we better get these pipes fixed before anything drastic happened. Not going down there was the last thing we wanted, but "Christmas" was saved when they all decided to drive up here and help us out! Doug brought his tools and Josh sat under the sink for nearly 5 hours! He used a plumber's gun and basically just had to thaw out the pipe. Luckily we had no leaks!! After all of the fun, we opened gifts and had a nice dinner. Although our plans were changed a little, we had a wonderful weekend with family!!
Finally... WATER!!!

6 MONTHS and growing!

Well, we are a little passed 6 months, but we just had our doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything is going well and Caroline is absolutely perfect! She is still eating solid foods and it seems like she can't get enough of them! It doesn't matter what it is, she loves it! The doctor says that her gums are starting to turn white and teeth might possibly be soon. But she also said that you really can't tell, so they might come in now and they might come in later. We have been so blessed with such a sweet little girl and I can't imagine her being any different! I was even surprised this morning with some time to myself today. She slept in until 9:15am! Here is where she ranks:
weight: 16 lbs. 4.2oz (48th percentile)
length: 26 inches (51st percentile)
head circumference: 42 cm (30th percentile)

A Weekend of Firsts!

What a busy week for us! Caroline is now 6 months old and really growing up! As we rang in the new year and new decade, we had quite a few firsts for Caroline! When we got back from Colorado, we started her off with baby food. She first had peas and LOVED them! Daddy says she has to start with vegetables and not until she gets those down, can she move on to fruits. I guess he has the right idea, but I just know this girl is going to LOVE chocolate no matter what! Here are a few pictures of her first feeding. This went over much better than the rice cereal a couple months ago.

The next big thing that we did was get our little girl a high chair! We had been putting this off for so long and I wanted to find one that I really liked. We decided on the Graco Wood chair in espresso and I just love it. It matches our kitchen cabinets perfectly! She looks pretty little in it, but also so grown up!
As you can tell from the above pictures, Caroline's hair has gotten pretty long! I know that most people wait until their children are well over a year to cut it, but she has SO much that this really just could not wait. So, we made an appointment for last Saturday when Josh and I could both take her. We went to the Sweet and Sassy salon in Southlake and had such a good time! We arrived a little before they opened and once those doors were unlocked at 10am, probably 10 little girls ran in all ready to be pampered. She loved watching the older girls and really didn't even notice that her hair was being cut.
Caroline listening intently to how much hair was going to be taken off.

Posing with Daddy and showing off the finished product. Not much was taken off, but just enough to make it a little more even in the back.

Now Caroline has been rolling over for quite a while now, but the newest thing she has learned that she is able to do is continue rolling. We haven't quite gotten the sitting thing mastered yet, but man does this girl want to move! We really need to start watching her because she will roll all over the room in a matter of seconds. She also gets up on her arms and is trying to crawl, but just can't quite figure it out. Why crawl when you can roll places faster? Here are several pictures of where I've found her lately. The table is just tall enough that she goes under it without hitting it. Now its just getting past the table legs. Once she figures that out... there's no stopping her!

Poor Frogs...

You can probably tell, but this is a before picture of Josh getting ready to head to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl. Our beloved Horned Frogs made it so far, but just couldn't quite hold on. We're looking forward to next year and will still be wearing our purple proud!

A White Christmas

What a whirlwind of a trip! This year we spent Christmas in Colorado and got ready for Caroline's 2nd plane ride! We left really early in the morning of the 23rd and she did so well! Of course there was too much going on around her to sleep, but she was quiet and quite the good girl. We arrived at the airport with Grami and Pop Pop waiting to take us home! The roads were really bad and we had to drive really slow, but it was beautiful to see all of the white snow. Missy, Paul and Emma all arrived earlier than us and were there waiting to greet us when we arrived home. That night, despite the bad weather, we went to Fort Collins and bottled our own wine. My parents bought some grapes several months ago and a local company prepared the wine for us. Josh requested the Chocolate Raspberry Port and no one objected! (Yep, he chose the chocolate... however no real chocolate was in it... he checked!) Marcia and Johnny joined us at the bottling place while Taylor and Maddy stayed and babysat Emma and Caroline. We all enjoyed the wine and dinner afterwards.
The next day was already Christmas Eve! We casually hung out and stayed out of the cold snow! That night we went to the Christmas Eve service at church and Caroline even stayed up to join in the fun. Grami Tami bought both of the girls matching red velvet dresses and they looked so cute!Everyone was so excited to see what Santa had brought, that we started Christmas pretty early. I think both girls were upat 6:30am so we decided to go ahead and open presents. Santa brought Caroline and Emma the cutest rocking horses that neighed, wagged their tails, and moved their noses. We took turns opening presents and Caroline could not believe all of the new clothes and toys! It took quite a lot of strategy by Josh to get all of those home!! We had to leave some, but they should be shipped soon! After presents we all got cleaned up and the entire family came over. Grami had quite the dinner and managed to feed and seat 23 people! We had so much fun with the family and had several new members. Andy's fiance's family came and joined us along with Sarah's fiance. We're looking forward to all of the weddings coming up.

We ended the trip with a night full of murder... a murder mystery dinner that is! My brother received a game a couple years ago and now that we reached 8 people in our family, we could finally play! We all dressed up as people from the '70's and got into our characters. Can you guess who did it...?Needless to say... there were LOTS of laughs!!

Christmas...Christmas...Christmas!

What a lucky girl! 3 Christmas's down and still 1 to go! We started our Christmas a little early. Josh and I decided that we wanted to do our Christmas together before we headed up to Colorado and thought it would be nice to have it in the morning. So we had our own special "Christmas morning" the Sunday before. We got up early and opened our stockings and presents in our pajamas. Later that day Suzanne, DJ, Adam, Julie, and the boys came over for our celebration together. It was such a fun and casual day where we exchanged presents and of course played the Wii. Caroline was pretty in to all of the happenings around her and loved watching the older boys. Don't worry, Josh made sure Santa would know just where to find us! He wrote a letter with Caroline and left it here informing Santa that we would be in Colorado. It worked and he sure found us!!
